At
the beginning there was amazement. We looked at a new voice recorder and
its power supply that we had bought wondering why the power supply was
much bigger and heavier than the recorder itself. Our extensive know-how
in inductive components and switch-mode power supplies let us come up
with the idea to integrate a power supply in an ordinary small and flat
euro-plug (see picture).
Using the newest technology and EGSTON's own high-end inductive components
we were able to introduce the world smallest power supply with 3.6 watt.
This success was honored by the Austrian government with the Austrian
National Innovations Award.
EGSTON felt that the gained know-how in miniaturizing was best applied
to the low power range where the size and the weight do matter. Today
four different power settings are offered: 3.6W, 6W, 12W, and 24W.

Power supplies always serve
other products and are never used on their own. We need them but do not
want them and most of us regard them as a necessary 'evil'. Nevertheless
they are used widely nowadays and nobody can really avoid them due to
the limitations of todays batteries. Our philosophy at EGSTON is to make.
We were glad we could commission the internationally renowned Prof.
Ernst W. Beranek (German site) who teaches a design class
at the technical university in Vienna to design our product. His design
incorporates all aspects we wanted to express with our product. Many of
our customers have praised the eccentric and pleasing design and clearly
stated that the design did not play an unimportant roll in their buying
decision.
